Technology In Your Daily Life

I believe that I grew in times of technology and I’m also in the group of digital native. When I was in elementary school, high school and college the use of technology was already in classroom. The technological devices or tools that I used in my primary, secondary, two year college and even my four year college level here at Walden University are computer, laptop and internet. The easy access of technology through information and resources has helped me to get into the process of learning right away with all my personal and job transaction. I believe that I consider myself as millennial learner. “Millennial students those born after 1982 increasingly apply for many people across a wide range of ages, driven by tools and media that use every day” (Dede, C., p.8, 2005). At work I assist students through the use of technology such as internet and database network system and computer to search for sources of their research topic.

Application: Technology Prioritization

·  Of all the technologies you use on a daily basis, pick the two you would not want to live without and explain why. Provide examples of how these technologies improve your life. How would your life change without these technologies?
The two technology devices that I used for my everyday at my workplace and even at my own home are computer and technology. I think that I do not want to live without these two technological devices because it helps me a lot of type to make things easier especially through communications, running errands, shopping and other activities that most people are taking advantage with the use of technology nowadays. For example, in my workplace I used the internet and computer everyday for my office database system and assisting the customers for their needs. I work at the college library as a reference librarian and most of the time I deal with students and instructor’s academic research needs about information for their papers. So I helped most of the time finding their sources on the computer through the use of the internet which is one of the fastest of information that most people used nowadays in school, businesses, government and other type of environment.

·  Next, reflect on this week's required Learning Resources and share two insights you gained regarding technology and learning. What did you discover this week that you did not already know? Be sure to cite the Resources in your response.

As of nowadays I still see the improvement that have provided from technology such as the introducing of new technology tools and devices that will help out to improve and enhance the world of opportunities and communication. According to Carlson, “at the beginning of the twenty-first century, we still see the rapid change in the technology and in the performance of technology. Computers and other knowledge management devices manipulate and store more data faster. Communication of data, voice, and video is almost anytime, anywhere”. From this week reading materials I have learned that there are different types or forms of technology and there own used in different settings. According to the article by Carlson, “discussions about technology are often linked to recent innovations, such as biotechnology, information and communication technology, and nanotechnology. The implications of these technologies from a governance perspective are extensive and still emerging”.
